![]() ![]() ![]() System requirements: Avid-qualified Mac or Windows computer.Maximum power consumption: 40W / 136.5 BTU.Processing depth: 32-bit floating point.Automatic Delay Compensation for hardware inserts: 16,383 samples.Channels of I/O: 64 (scalable up to 192 with three HDX cards).DSP processing: 18 x 350 MHz TI processors per HDX card (6.3 GHz aggregated processing).FPGA 2: 4500 x 4500 + matrix routes digital signal to the DSPs, Pro Tools, and DigiLink outputs.FPGA 1: PCIe interface to the host streaming up to 256 voices at 48 kHz (in HDX Classic mode). One DigiSerial Connector: Interface with SYNC HD for sample-accurate frame-edge alignment. Two DigiLink Connectors: Connect up to four audio interfaces for up to 64 channels of audio I/O.As well as Avid's own HD OMNI, 8X8X8, 16x16 or HD MADI interfaces, direct connection is also possible to third party interfaces from manufacturers such as Apogee, Focusrite, Trinnov and others allowing you to create a custom setup that perfectly supports your needs. Multiple HDX cards can be used in one computer for a scalable system capable of running up to 768 tracks of audio.Ī Pro Tools HDX system requires direct connection to a Pro Tools compatible audio interface via the mini Digilink connectors. ![]() In comparison to previous Pro Tools HD systems, a single HDX card provides the equivalent power of an HD5 system. In addition, they can also run DSP-based AAX plug-ins, meaning that even the largest surround mixes won't grind your computer to a halt. ![]() The DSP processors on an HDX card run the Pro Tools Mixer, taking a load of your computer's CPU. Pro Tools HDX Core comprises a PCIe core with powerful DSP processors, connectivity for up to 64 channels of I/O per card and direct connection to an Avid Sync HD device enabling your Pro Tools HDX system to chase or drive many different types of timecode with sample accuracy - even frame locking to video sources. The HDX Core is the hardware that enables Pro Tools | Ultimate to deliver massive surround mixes with no system slowdown and realtime processing. Or again, if you want to move forward off Pro Tools 8, and don't have a boatload of HD interfaces it is really hard to look past Pro Tools standard and some of those modern Thunderbolt interfaces (yes requires a new Mac). The Pro Tools HDX Core with Pro Tools HD Ultimate Perpetual License provides you with the HDX hardware and the licence code for you pro tools HD software. if there are not reasons to want to be on all the modern features of Pro Tools 12, 64 bit, track freeze, etc. just creating hassles, and I am not sure about firmware compatibility of a random HD card you might pick up. Was't 8.5 HD a separate iLok license asset? So it won't run off a 8.0 asset? So the OP would still have to find that license to use PT 8. As such, everyone who bought it new when it came out qualified for the free upgrade to 9, but it should still work with 8.5. They came out with that update right when it was released, because they didn't want to spill the beans about PT9, which would come out a few weeks later. Actually HD Native should work with HD 8.5. ![]()
